If They Build It . . . They'll Have Fun

We really have wonderful neighbors - bunco nights last winter, holiday get togethers, and just about caring for each other. The stone wall was finally set up in our backyard so we ordered sand for the volleyball court and stepping stones for the pergola. The kids were so excited and helped when the sand was delivered yesterday! It was a big sand box. The only thing missing in the picture is water (our neighbor across the street has a swimming pool though) - it was like playing in Lake Michigan dunes. BTW - the girl in black shirt and green pants is named Alicia too.

AJ and Erin were already waiting for Ed around 9 this morning. Christian, Taylor, and Conner joined them a little later. It took them a day and a half to level the sand and assemble the pergola. Not only was it free labor, but the kids ordered pizza for lunch and did not want Ed to pay. The Dads will help raise the pergola tomorrow - we are all set up for the hot air balloon, Thunderbirds, fireworks, and best of all, the camaraderie this 4th of July weekend.

A coincidence or great minds think alike? I was talking to Raquel this morning telling her about the sand court. She asked whether I have seen her new blog - Nathan playing in his sandbox! I bet he will have fun when they visit in September.
