What's New Pussycats?
It has been a week since we got Rocky and Trixie. We kept them in the mudroom for the first five days while slowly letting them explore the rest of the house. They have adjusted very well to us. Trixie is starting to come and "socialize" with us although she still runs under the cupboards when she gets startled. (Leah corrected my adjective - Trixie is skittish not squeamish). So far, here is their routine:

Eat. The last two mornings, both were at the stairs, waiting for their breakfast. Rocky meows while Trixie follows us around (she meows/squeak whenever she cannot see big brother).

Play. They found Pyris' favorite toy, a worn out green felt mouse tied on a ribbon and played with it. Pyris carried it around while meowing whenever she wanted attention. They also love the yellow ball from the Newtons. Playing makes them hungry so they go back to ...

Eat again. This is when they finish their canned food. They have their Meow Mix for the rest of the day. A bowlful is usually gone by the time I come back from the office.

Naptime. For a while, they go back to their box to sleep. They have discovered the family room sofa and this has become their favorite hangout. They cuddle with us whenever we are watching TV. By the way, aside from purring, Rocky also snores.

It is time to play again. They love chasing each other up and down the stairs and the step stool.

Time for another nap. Ed and I enjoy watching them go through the play-nap-eat routine.

In another front - the orchid I got from Smith and Kline bloomed this month. It is beautiful. Aside from the orchid, all my African violets and anthuriums are blooming and setting up new growths.
